Dr. Wang leads the healthcare investment practice at HECOBASE, overseeing opportunities in biotechnology, pharmaceuticals, and life sciences.

He brings deep expertise in drug development and extensive experience in venture and growth-stage investments, with a strong record of identifying and supporting innovative companies in China’s healthcare industry.

Before joining HECOBASE, Dr. Wang served on the boards of several biotech companies and led multiple landmark investments at Huakong Capital and TEDA Science & Technology Investment. Earlier in his career, he worked at Asymchem Laboratories, a leading CDMO in China, where he gained hands-on experience across the pharmaceutical R&D and manufacturing value chain.

Dr. Wang holds a Ph.D. in Pharmaceutical Sciences from Nankai University, and completed postdoctoral research at Tsinghua University and Georgia State University.

Ethan Li

Venture Partner

Dr. Li serves as Venture Partner at HECOBASE, focusing on biopharmaceutical innovation and industrial operations.

He is responsible for identifying and evaluating biotechnology investment opportunities, guiding portfolio companies on development and production strategies, and integrating key resources across the life sciences industry.

With unparalleled experience in supporting biotechnology enterprises across research, development, and manufacturing, Dr. Jiuyuan combines scientific insight with operational leadership to drive innovation and value creation.

Before joining HECOBASE, he served as Vice President and Deputy General Manager at Asymchem Laboratories, one of China’s leading CDMO companies, where he led clinical development and manufacturing operations for innovative drug compounds.

Dr. Jiuyuan holds a Ph.D. in Chemistry from the Chinese Academy of Sciences and an MBA from Tsinghua University.

Kevin Xu

Founder & CEO

Dr. Xu oversees the firm’s overall investment strategy, capital allocation, and global partnership development, with a particular focus on opportunities in renewable energy, advanced materials.

Prior to founding HECOBASE, Kevin worked in the Investment Banking Division of Goldman Sachs and at Primavera Capital, where he gained extensive experience in cross-border M&A, capital markets, and strategic investments.

Kevin’s multidisciplinary background — spanning chemistry, biotechnology, and finance — brings a scientific discipline and long-term analytical mindset to HECOBASE’s investment philosophy.

He holds a Ph.D. in Chemistry from the Chinese Academy of Sciences, conducted postdoctoral research at the University of Wisconsin–Madison School of Pharmacy, and earned an MBA in Finance from the Rotman School of Management, University of Toronto.
